Letters Without Limits
What is Letters Without Limits?
Letters Without Limits is a student-led initiative where volunteers are paired one-on-one with patients in hospice and palliative care to engage in meaningful conversations about their life, values, and wisdom. These conversations are then transcribed and crafted by the volunteer into a Legacy Letter, a powerful autobiographical-style narrative that is returned to the patient and, if they wish, shared with loved ones.
Why Volunteer?
Hospice patients often face emotional isolation and a fear of being forgotten. By helping create a Legacy Letter, you offer them a chance to be heard, honored, and remembered, making this one of the most meaningful forms of direct clinical volunteering available to students.
Your Role as a Volunteer
Volunteer directly with patients in clinical hospice settings, conduct reflective, story-centered interviews, transcribe and craft Legacy Letters on behalf of the patient, and help preserve meaning, dignity, and voice at the end of life
